Hello!
I’d like to take a quick minute to introduce myself for those of you I didn't catch at back to school or parent night. I grew up in Post Falls, and came to Moscow originally for college. I graduated in May 2013 from the University of Idaho (Go Vandals!) with two bachelor’s degrees in Elementary Education and Piano Performance. I student taught in Lakeland School District, and then I did a lot of subbing in Moscow School District in the winter of 2014. Then I taught 5th grade at Russell Elementary in 2014-2015, and moved over to McDonald Elementary for the 2015-16 school year. I have been a Duck ever since! I also earned my Masters in Education during the 2015-16 school year from Concordia University.
I come to the educational field with a philosophy based around student-centered learning and multiple styles of teaching to attempt to reach the many, diverse types of learners that are in classrooms and our world. I use a lot of small group teaching in my classroom to teach students at their respective levels and push them to be the best they can be. I believe we can learn a lot from each other and try to capitalize on that as much as possible through student interactions among each other. My husband earned his PhD from WSU in Mathematics Education. He teaches math in Lewiston at LCSC! We love living on the Palouse. Moscow has so much to offer as a community with so many wonderful resources at our disposal. We feel so lucky to be a part of this wonderful community! Outside of school, I enjoy coaching volleyball, playing piano, going on hikes, watching TV/movies, crafting, painting, doing DIY projects, and spending time with my amazing family and friends. I'm so looking forward to getting to know my new 3rd grade class and their families as well! |
